Monument Valley in Utah and Arizona - October 1, 2010
Paul was our Navajo guide while on the Navajo reservation. Quiet spoken, he told me that he had lived in San Francisco where he had worked as a scapholding worker but returned home because it was too noisy there. Paul was 41, and was born in Monument Valley. His first language was Navajo and as he told me, he was still learning English. He had been a guide since the early 1990’s. In this photo Uwe and Mary are getting questions answered.
