near Moab, Utah at Hittle Bottom
morning – September 28, 2010
We put in at Hittle Bottom near what had at one time in the late 1800’s been an old homestead. Our guide was John. He was personable, humorous, and quite knowledgeable. Originally from near the Poconos in Pennsylvania – he had been a Moab river guide for four years. His wonderful stories, and his encouraging manner made us all feel that he was a born teacher. The river itself at this time of year was quiet, with only a few areas where the water was turbulent. For the most part it was a float down the river. At the start the temperature was about 45ºF, but by midday it was in the high 80’s. However the air was dry.
