130. "Life in the Tin Can"

at Arches National Park – the parking lot at the entrance near Moab, Utah

September 29, 2010

I think it was Scotty McCampbell who coined this term for our travel in the RV. Surely, when wetold our friends (before leaving) that for ten days we and 2 other couples were going to travel around Utah in this thirty foot RV – everyone cringed but us. Were we crowded? Yup. Did we have disagreements? Nope. Did we have fun? Yes. And most importantly we were able to joke about our not so bad predicament of “life in a tin can,” and we were able to travel in this beautiful state with friends. Certainly we all marveled that we could do this, and we all joked about the crowding, but in retrospect, this was the way to do it. I would not have chosen any other way. In the doorway to our tin can are Mary Bagnato, Susan Finer, and Nina McCampbell.
